 Threading Theatre Community Day
Threading Theatre Community Day
To discover, connect and exchange, through the world of Threading.
Be welcome to come and experience the community around this movement language.

A day fully dedicated to and designed around the movement language of Threading.
It starts with a foundational threading workshop for solo and partner exploration. Afterwards we tap into to theatricality of the language and explore realms like imagination, physical narratives and expression. Then we facilitate an open space to dive deeper in certain elements or create material together. In the evening we conclude with a jam that is guided by live music.

Threading is a movement concept where you create physical openings by connecting body parts together and moving through those openings with other body parts.
The ‘Threading Theatre Method’ is very minimalistic, by stripping away all the layers that are not ready to be fused with the principals of the language. The method provides clear focus points that guide you to a state where we don’t search for a specific results but rather establish a trust that the body will find its way. Slowly excavating a path to the endless amount of possibilities that are hidden within the world of threading.

This community day will be facilitated by Justin de Jager. His movement journey started as a breaker, where he discovered the movement concept of threading. For the last 7 years, he has been transforming the concept threading into a dance language that has the ability to communicate on its own and is not dependent from another dance style to be expressed within. Diving all the way to the source to express the essence.
This community day will be co-facilitated together with committed members from Threading Theatre. All motivated to hold the space as a whole and support the people that are new to the language.

One of the best ways to integrate the information from the workshops and concluded the day, is to let the body go and just jam. By holding the space collectively, we leave judgement out of the door and surrender into the field.
The live music for the jam will be provided by the composer and sound artist Andreas Tegnander. Andreas has been composing scores and performing live with Threading Theatre since day one.

This community day is accessible for anyone who feels the inner call to join and experience it. No entry level or specific dance training required. Just know that the practice is very physical. It will challenge you to surrender, to hold on, to play, to be sensitive and to simply go for it.
We will work a lot around the touch because you need physical contact to enter the realm of threading. Open communication, honesty and awareness are key factors to create a safe space. As facilitators and as a group we collectively keep one another responsible and carry the field together.
